The launch of the 23rd Earagail Arts Festival was a great success and all had an enjoyable day. Some of the highlights of the Festival 2011 Orchestre Poly Rhytmo de Cotonou Sunday 10th July – 8pm - An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny Orchestre Poly Rhytmo are national institutions in Berin, West Africa and superstars of African music. The Selecter Saturday
16th July - 10pm - The Grill, Letterkenny After 30 years, Neol Davies a.k.a The Selecter, sole writer of the hit songs On My Radio, Too Much Pressure, Three Minute Hero, Missing Words and Celebrate The Bullet, has returned to the big stage with a sharp and powerful ten piece band featuring players of real distinction, including the amazingly charismatic new lead singer, John Gibbons, bringing the 2Tone style and passion into the 21st century where it continues to resonate. EAF Carnival Parade Saturday
9th July – 9:30pm – Main Street, Letterkenny As the carnival takes to the streets of Letterkenny for the opening of the 23rd Earagail Arts Festival, you and all the family will be guaranteed a fun filled evening with illuminated props, live music and stunning performance presented by arts and community groups across the North West led by Inishowen Carnival Group. SeaFest ~ 1st - 3rd July 2011 Come the first weekend of July, the sheltered waters of Donegal’s Lough Swilly will spring to life with sails big and small, with the slap of oars and paddles. The shoreline and golden sands of its beaches will play natural backdrop to games and competitions, to families and friends celebrating in the unique surroundings of our coastal environment. No celebration would be complete without plenty of our coastal food culture: fresh fish and shellfish from our local waters; lamb, beef and pork from our local fields – all of it turned into simply exceptional regional cuisine by our talented local chefs. EVENTS INCLUDE: On the water: sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, swimming competitions, boat excursions, powerboat treasure hunt and many more. On the Shore: the landlubber’s cup vintage fairground & beach games, beach walk, pirate walkabout street circus, try-a-dive with sheephaven sub aqua club, sea urchins workshops, sunset chorus colmchille gospel choir, seaside storytelling and many more. At the table: No celebration would be complete without plenty of coastal food culture. So expect plenty of fresh foods and 100% Donegal on the table.
